New this spring – Simulating Data with SAS

Dear Reader,

The beautiful blooming spring flowers and mostly mosquito-free outdoors are enticing. However, as Leo Tolstoy wrote in Anna Karenina "Spring is the time of plans and projects." That has certainly been the case here this month.

As we finalize plans for SAS Global Forum (we hope to see many of you there!), we're still focused on publishing books, of course. In this issue, you'll learn about two new titles:

• Fundamentals of Predictive Analytics with JMP
• Simulating Data with SAS

If you're an instructor teaching SAS, be sure to read about our desk-copy program as you plan your courses. And we invite all of our readers to consider writing a book for us. Take a look at Shelley Sessoms' new "Updates for Aspiring Authors" column.

As you contend with your own busy lives, I hope that you find the SAS Book Report to be a refreshing diversion.

Thank you for reading.

Updates for Aspiring Authors

Let’s talk books at SAS Global Forum

By Shelley Sessoms

This is my favorite time of year, the time when SAS folks from around the world gather for SAS Global Forum. Starting April 28, I get to see old friends and meet new ones. I always come away with lots of new book ideas since conference attendees aren't shy about sharing their ideas.

If you are attending the conference and have an idea for a book, let's plan to meet up. Are you giving a presentation? Send me the details and I’ll try to attend. Want to get a jump-start on things? Go ahead and work on your proposal. That will give us concrete ideas to discuss.

Not quite ready to write, but have ideas for topics that others can write about? Send me those, too. I’ll add them to my "wish list."
