Cody's Collection of Popular SAS Programming Tasks and How to Tackle Them
Dear Reader,
Last weekend, I took my two large dogs to a local dog-wash fundraiser. My dogs hate water. However, I was determined to coax them into getting a bath even if it required bribery (treats) and my getting completely soaked. After a grueling forty-five minutes, both dogs emerged clean—mainly due to the gracious expertise of the volunteer staff.
In this month's "SAS Book Report," we highlight our own experts: SAS authors. You'll see six new books, including new titles from SAS user favorites Ron Cody and Michele Burlew. There are also two new business books and two SAS product documentation guides.
In addition to new books, you'll find the always popular SAS tips; a free, upcoming webinar from Michele Burlew on SAS hash objects; and an interesting topic that Shelley Sessoms is recruiting authors for.
Although I'm sure that you handle new challenges well (unlike my dogs), rest assured that our SAS books can help if you need guidance with your own work. Have a lovely and productive October!
See you in November,
Shelly Goodin

Explaining Bayesian Analysis
By Shelley Sessoms
The use of Bayesian methods has become increasingly popular in modern statistical analysis, with applications in a wide variety of scientific fields. The GENMOD, LIFEREG, and PHREG procedures offer convenient access to Bayesian analysis for generalized linear models, accelerated life failure models, Cox regression models, and piecewise exponential hazard models.
If you can expand on this information, and offer case studies and real-world examples, then we want to talk to you. SAS® Press is looking for a book on the Bayesian methods. It doesn't need to be a large book…short and sweet with great examples will hit the mark. Let me know if you’d like to talk about your ideas. We could be promoting your book at an upcoming SAS conference!
