Four new eBooks for SAS® 9.3

Dear Reader,

I've always liked November. The weather is sometimes nearly perfect. And when it's not, there's no better way to spend a cold rainy afternoon than reading a good book or getting out of walking my dogs. However, in doing a little research for this month's editorial, I discovered that some people kind of hate November. Even writers. For instance, Sara Coleridge wrote "Dull November brings the blast / Then the leaves are whirling fast." And, poet Emily Dickinson wrote "November always seemed to me the Norway of the year." I like Norway and November, and I'm not exactly sure what Emily means, but it doesn't sound very complimentary. (I've just opened myself up to English majors, but feel free to correct me.) And how about this depressing bit from Joseph Addison: "The gloomy month of November, when the people of England hang and drown themselves." Even the lyrics to the-less-than-literary metal band Guns N' Roses song, "November Rain," suggest a bad breakup.

Whether the maligned month of November registers an opinion from you at all, there are some great takeaways in this issue of SAS Publishing News. If you're excited about eBooks and SAS®9.3 documentation, read about the four titles now available for your reading devices. If you're teaching SAS or into Analytics, we have some announcements that you'll be interested in. By popular demand, we're continuing to feature SAS Author's Tips, and Shelley Sessoms is recruiting authors for SAS Press. Take a look at Shelley's new column, and take the opportunity to chat with author and SAS developer Rick Wicklin. Also, peruse the rest of the issue for other great content.

However you're spending your time this month, I hope you'll keep these glowing words from Henry David Thoreau in mind: "The thinnest yellow light of November is more warming and exhilarating than any wine they tell of. The mite which November contributes becomes equal in value to the bounty of July." Salud!

See you in December,

Shelly Goodin
