Featured Tips from SAS Press Authors

Dear Readers,

First off, let me just say that Judi Rourke (the supremely talented former editor of SAS Publishing News) is going to be greatly missed. She creatively used her rich background in English literature and keen brand of humor to write a compelling monthly editor's note. Right now, I'm feeling a bit like whoever is going to replace the character of Michael Scott on the next season of the American comedy series "The Office." I have a lot to live up to.

Speaking of "the office," I have worked in SAS Publishing for almost seven years and in the publishing industry for over twelve years. After working as a publicist for Algonquin Books (a trade publisher) for several years, I made the leap to SAS Press focusing on author and conference promotions. I loved getting the opportunity to work with the talent behind our books, as well as traveling to SAS conferences and getting to know many SAS users. I am now SAS Publishing's social media marketer. Besides getting to know many of you through SPN, I look forward to virtually meeting those of you who belong to social networking communities—or at future SAS Global Forums.

I did not major in English, but am always reading—whether it’s the latest fantasy novel, young adult book (my husband is an aspiring writer in this genre), tweet, or work of philosophy. Reading is one of my greatest pleasures. Another is spending time with my five often unruly pets and one husband and attending Zumba classes.

Being a part of the SAS user community and understanding what kind of content is beneficial to you is important to me. I hope that each issue of SPN enhances your experience using SAS. I look forward to hearing from you and getting your feedback!
