Exams required for this credential:
SAS Advanced Programming Exam for SAS 9
The formerly offered SAS Advanced Programming Exam can be substituted for the SAS Advanced Programming Exam for SAS 9.
Required Experience
Successful candidates should have experience in programming and data management using SAS 9 and should be able to
- use advanced DATA step programming statements
- use efficiency techniques to solve complex problems
- write and interpret SAS SQL code
- create and use the SAS MACRO facility

- 65 multiple-choice questions
- Must answer 42 correctly to pass
- 2 hours to complete exam

Exam Preparation
To help candidates prepare for this exam, SAS offers a choice of
instructor-based training, a self-study option, or you may combine
the different methods to best meet your needs. The choice is yours.
Please note: All preparation methods below assume you have access to SAS software to practice. If this is not the case for you, consider purchasing the SAS Learning Edition, an easy-to-use personal learning version of SAS.
Instructor-Based Training:
In the United States, the topics tested are covered in three courses
offered at our training centers or via Live Web.
- SAS Programming 3: Advanced Techniques and Efficiencies - taken after March 2005
- SAS SQL 1: Essentials - taken after April 2004
- SAS Macro Language 1: Essentials - taken after April 2004
SAS Self-Paced e-Learning:
- SAS Certification: Advanced Programming for SAS 9 is a Web-based study course which covers all topics included on the test, as well as quizzes, and a practice exam.
- SAS Certification Prep Guide: Advanced Programming for SAS 9 is a hard-copy book version of the Web-based study course. The practice exam is not included but may be purchased separately.
- SAS Certification: Advanced Programming Practice Exam for SAS 9 is part of the Web-based study course or can be purchased separately if you choose to prepare with instructor-based training or already have SAS experience and just want to test your knowledge.

Integration Technology. Anticipated exam release date early 2009.

- deploy and maintain the warehouse
