What's New in the SAS 9.1.2 Intelligence Architecture: Planning and Administration Guide
This introduction is intended for anyone who has read the SAS 9.1 Intelligence Architecture:
Planning and Administration Guide. It explains the differences between that document and the
SAS 9.1.2 version of the guide available on this site.
Major changes in 9.1.2:
- SAS is shipping several new business intelligence products: SAS Information Map Studio,
SAS Web Report Studio, and SAS Web Report Viewer. These products work together to enable you to
create and view reports from a Web browser. For more information, see Chapter 14, "Managing
Your Reporting Environment," which is devoted largely to the administration of these products.
-
New performance tuning information: Chapter 16, "Configuring SAS Servers for Better Performance,"
contains two new sections that explain how to configure your workspace server to obtain the best
performance from SAS Web Report Studio.
- New information about troubleshooting installation problems: Chapter 9, "Troubleshooting
Your Initial Setup," explains how to solve problems that you encounter during the installation
and configuration of your system. It focuses on ensuring that your SAS servers are working and that
you can start and log in to your Web applications.
- Information about upgrading from 9.1 to 9.1.2: See Appendix 3, "Upgrading a SAS 9.1 System to a
SAS 9.1.2 System."
Other changes in 9.1.2:
- The part of the document that deals with security has been revised. There are now separate
chapters on authentication and authorization, and the security chapters include:
- new authentication examples
- new explanations of key authentication concepts
- an authorization decision flowchart
- a discussion of identity precedence for metadata layer access controls.
- Chapter 7, "Pre-Installation Tasks," includes updated pre-installation checklists
and up-to-date information about supported Web containers, J2EE servers, and WebDAV servers.
- Chapter 10, "Post-Configuration Tasks," contains new information about
preassigning libraries to an application server.
- Chapter 13, "Administering SAS ETL Studio," discussses the administrative tasks
associated with the new status handling feature of SAS ETL Studio.
